Language code[edit]

@Justinrleung There seems to be an issues with fetching the right language using Wiktionary's language code. Would it be possible to fix it? The dog2 (talk) 19:00, 19 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

@The dog2: Hainanese (nan-hai) is an etymology-only language. That means in our etymologies, it can't be a receiver in borrowing, only a donor. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 19:02, 19 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung Could that be changed? After all, the Hainanese spoken in Malaysia and Singapore has borrowed quite a bit from English and Malay, and possibly Hokkien as well. The dog2 (talk) 19:04, 19 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@The dog2: I think it should be subsumed under Min Nan for now. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 19:07, 19 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
