Shanghainese Reading[edit]

My friend recently brought this up after he checked the Shanghainese reading for this word. He cited The Syllabary of the Shanghai Vernacular (1891 - photo here https://imgur.com/a/Gzwb8lq), which states that 揉's vernacular reading was nyoq and its formal reading was jjeu. Wugniu has it down as leu and zeu. Wuyin agrees with the current reading here, and page 189 of the 上海方言词典 (1997) says it's zeu (all converted into Wiktionary romanisation). Which one are we going for? Thanks. By the way, Syllabary of Shanghai Vernacular is available here: https://archive.org/details/syllabaryofshang00shanrich/page/n5/mode/2up Fluoromethyl (talk) 14:14, 11 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
