Chinese classical theatre

[edit]

Is this not also the character for the "Male lead" or principal male role in a Chinese classical play? Or is it rather the "child/progeny" or maybe naïve role? I know it's found in Chinese plays, but don't know exactly the reasoning behind that character being used. Alphonsoore (talk) 07:08, 15 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it does seem to have this kind of meaning with 正末: https://books.google.com/books?id=wjMwAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA129 1.66.105.177 07:35, 15 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please add the additional definition to this entry that this also refers to a role in Chinese opera. 173.88.246.138 16:01, 12 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
