Listing Japanese descendant

[edit]

@Justinrleung How should the Japanese version be listed as a descandant? The Japanese version is 異路同帰, so it's not exactly a Sinoxenic descendant, but it's clearly derived from this particular Chinese expression despite the one-character difference. The dog2 (talk) 21:41, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@The dog2: Chinese also has 異路同歸, so I think that’s a more direct way of borrowing. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 03:43, 27 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung: Should we have one as a variant of the other? The dog2 (talk) 04:08, 27 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@The dog2: It would not be a "variant" but a synonym. I don't exactly know which is more common. I am more familiar with 殊途同歸. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 05:05, 27 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
