Quanzhou[edit]

@Mar vin kaiser Could you check the Quanzhou pronunciation here? This website says 老 is in the 5th (3rd) tone. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 20:37, 1 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Mar vin kaiser, pinging again. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 06:11, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Justinrleung The tone in this entry is consistent with the website. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 15:48, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Mar vin kaiser I just wanted you to confirm the website's info, since 閩南方言大詞典 doesn't show the tone sandhi, which means it could be the 3rd or 7th tone. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 15:54, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it's correct. According to 闽南方言大词典, the tone of 老 in 老闆 is 陰去, so sandhi would make it 陰上. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 15:58, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Mar vin kaiser The problem is 5 in 闽南方言大词典 could mean both 3rd or 7th tone, since they don't use 6 in the Quanzhou pronunciation. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 16:01, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, sorry, now I see your point. The way to check is through 當代泉州音字彙, because it differentiates the two 去聲. 老 in 老闆 is definitely 陰去. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 16:34, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
