@Tooironic, Justinrleung, Suzukaze-c, エリック・キィ, RcAlex36, anyone else I've missed -- can any of you tell if this term was in use in Chinese prior to 1872? My Japanese sources don't mention anything about a Chinese borrowing, whereas the term's date of first appearance in Japanese is suggestive of either a repurposing of an older Chinese term of different sense, or possibly of a new coinage in Japanese.

- @Tooironic, thank you! That works for me, as an attestation of this string occurring in a Chinese source before 1872. In terms of sense, my Chinese isn't good enough to tell if this instance of 肩甲骨 means scapula, shoulder blade specifically, or just shoulder bone more generally. - I'm not sure. It may not be defined that specifically. Zdic defines the term as 人体胸背部最上部外侧的骨头，左右各一，略作三角形。肩胛骨、锁骨和肱骨构成肩关节。也叫胛骨、琵琶骨. ---> Tooironic (talk) 00:37, 18 August 2021 (UTC)
