Etymology

[edit]

@Bula Hailan, hi, how do you know it's from 飲酒駕車 instead of 酒後駕駛, 醉酒駕車 or 醉酒駕駛? — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 02:08, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Justinrleung: Thanks for the ping. I am pretty sure it is not from 醉酒駕車 or 醉酒駕駛. Because in 中华人民共和国道路交通安全法, 酒驾 and 醉驾 are two different criminal charges. But I am not sure whether it is the short form of 飲酒駕車 of 飲酒駕駛 (that is, the origin of 駕 is not clear to me). I will add 飲酒駕駛 to the etymology. Bula Hailan (talk) 02:19, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Bula Hailan, this is only in Mainland China, but I think other regions use 酒後駕駛 rather than 飲酒駕車. Could it also be from 酒後駕駛? — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 02:22, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung: Yes, it could be. The Chinese wikipedia page of 酒後駕駛 says this: "酒後駕駛(英語:Driving under the influence (of alcohol),常簡寫為DUI,簡稱酒駕". I think I should add this one to the etymology too. Bula Hailan (talk) 02:26, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
