They went with ⿰钅尔 (ni3), making it the only one of the four new elements to not use the initial of the namesake as a phonetic component: ⿰钅尔 (ni3), from 你 (ni3, "you (used phonetically for 'Nihonium')"), not 日本 (ri4ben3, "Japan"). ⿰钅莫 (mo4), from 莫斯科 (mo4si1ke1, "Moscow"). ⿰石田 (tian2) from 田纳西 (tian2na4xi1, "Tennessee"). ⿹气奥 (ao4) from 奥加涅相 (ao4jia1nie4xiang1, "Oganesson").
