Mandarin pronunciation

[edit]

@Justinrleung I was wondering if we should have the Mandarin pronunciations for words that are exclusive to formal written Chinese in Hong Kong and/or Macau like this one. I know that standard written Chinese in Hong Kong is primarily based on standard Mandarin, but on the other hand, most Hongkongers do not speak Mandarin, and many even find it offensive to be addressed in Mandarin, and even those Hongkongers who speak Mandarin usually have a better command of English. @The dog2: I think it could be included given that Mandarin is definitely a language used in Hong Kong (like it or not). It might be good to check if Putonghua news reports in Hong Kong, for example, use this term specifically. @RcAlex36, what do you think? — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 19:00, 2 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
