German[edit]

Made the gender more neutral; or else RFV for the gender.
AFAIK it's commonly used without article, making it harder to attest a gender.
For genitive one can, for example, find:

  • 2014, Jeanne Rubner, Verrückt: Was wir aus Fehlern unseres Gehirns lernen können, e-book edition without page numbers ([1]): "von der Untersuchung des sogenannten familiären Alzheimers" (text also has: "an Alzheimer zu erkranken", "Hauptakteure bei Alzheimer", "handelt es sich allerdings nicht um Alzheimer")
  • 1949, Eugen Bleuler and Manfred Bleuler as well as Josef Berze, Hans Luxenburger, Friedrich Meggendorfer, Siegfried Scheidegger, Lehrbuch der Psychiatrie, 8th edition, page 174 ([2]): "Die Ursachen des Alzheimers sind wahrscheinlich vorwiegend hereditäre"

and also, though not necessarily attestable as for WT:CFI (3 durably archived cites):

  • 2015, Volker H. Schendel, Orthomolekulare Medizin - Vitamin D3 - Vitamin K2 - Eine Anthologie, page 86 ([3]): "Begleitsymptome des Alzheimer sind zunächst [...]"
  • internet: thieme.de: "Ist emotionaler Stress ein Auslöser des Alzheimer?"

That shows it's masculine or neuter and not feminine, but doesn't proof masculine gender. One could argue for neuter gender (like e.g. substantivations like Weh and like many city names like Berlin and country names like Japan). -09:29, 29 July 2018 (UTC)
