On page 606 of the June 1972 Printing of the Joy of Cooking there is a recipe for
"...cake cockaigne", with reference to a New York Times Food editor.
The cake when made with very ripe plums was certainly a very "luxurious" tasting one, and I can see the connection. However the usage was not that of a noun of the country as in the definition given. Also - what would the proper pronunciation and stress placement be? Peter, Mara, BC
