This page is incorrect. The proper term for persons from Laos; is Lao, not Laotian. This is also true for Lao culture, Lao food, etc.

Both are correct. If you prefer to use Lao exclusively, that’s your right. Lots of people would rather say Laotian. —Stephen 00:24, 13 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Laos, Lao and Laotian terms should be used as follows: I come from Laos. I speak Lao and I am Laotian. Lots of people use Lao & Laotian exchangeably. Eventhough, it is acceptable but it's incorrect. Anything's related to people then the word Laotian should be used such as Laotian culture, Laotian food, Laotian restaurant.
"Laotian" is a word. It's been in use for a long time. I don't use it myself. I use "Lao" as it seems to be preferred in Laos and by Laotians, not because the other word is incorrect or not "proper". Eventhough is not a word however. — hippietrail (talk) 02:49, 22 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
