Etymology & order of entries[edit]

I get that the guy having the given name Seljuk &c. points to the prior existence of the name and I get that our entries on the topic previously were equivalent to

from {{inh|ota|trk-ogz-pro|tr=*Sälčük}}

That said, per Wiki's Seljuk (warlord) article, his own name is uncertain and its etymology seems unsure and highly debated. The article on Selçuk as a name points to it being used as a surname first before being popularized as a given name by the mid-20th century, derived from modern version of the warlord's name and not a freestanding name he happened to share.

If that's mistaken and we have a certain etymology, peachy, but we should also clean up/source those Wiki articles to reflect that. — LlywelynII 17:43, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
