The "other pronunciation" has always been mentioned in baby name books. The Are in fact Two Gender Proper "STEVen" but they are considered hybrids but are officially tagged by vowel system. The "V" sounds is because of PH being attuned to the Letter F as fetured in the word OF. It genderizes the name from the feminine "Stephanie" such as Michael & Michelle are differed is gender.
