All the etymologies I've seen from the Romanian dictionaries say eccum tantum. I did elaborate on the etymology just now. The Aromanian forms kind of illustrate the evolution better. At the same time though, it is a somewhat unusual development, maybe influenced analogically by other words. Confer also cutare and atare vs. Italian cotale and cotanto.
