Doesn't "atar" mean fire in sanskrit? The post-WW2 french jet engine design bureau ATAR (ATelier Aviatique Rickenbach) was reportedly abbreviated as such to please the ex-Reich engineers who staffed it with some "aryan" nomenclature. It would appear the meaning of scent in more modern languages is possibly derived from the smell of fire/burning? 195.184.22.129 18:13, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
