  1. Any sauce created as an accompaniment to barbecued foods.

Right, barbecue sauce is a particular genre of sauces. If you put Hollandaise sauce on your barbecue, that doesn’t make it barbecue sauce. —Stephen 21:48, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
