I see the discussion above. The cadus data verimus can certainly be rejected as a total fantasy.

I don't know how templates work here but the etymology with sources to Pokorny's Et.Workbook are given on fr:cadaver

-ver ending is explained : it is for *kadāḫu̯es ; cadaver > ḫu̯ = v as in stiva and s = r through rhotacism
