Fractional terms outside base 10

So decagon is a 10 sided shape and while octagon and hexagon are 8 and 6

If deci- is tenth then shouldn't (sub I for O) octi- and hexi- be logical synoynms for eighth and sixth?

No they wouldn't. 'deci- is based on the Latin decimus, while the fractions for sixth and eighth would not be formed like that. SURJECTION _{·talk·contr·log·} 22:46, 30 August 2018 (UTC)
