There is another technical term, in English, in fibre technology. When hand-combed fibre is removed from a hackle or combs, a "diz" is sometimes used. It's a small, thick disk used as a gauge to limit the amount of fabric pulled away to a steady amount, which by careful management leaves shorter fibres which will weaken the finished spun product on the comb, for later disposal.
