Quotations vs Citations[edit]

The quotations are rather suspect:

'Merlin' as an author is absurd, especially considering the date.
Burton appears as an author rather than translator. Should it read Scheherezade, as in Merlin?
The date for the quote from Gregory's Chronicle seems inconsistent with the language. I gather the chronicle covers a few centuries ending about then.

In all cases, with no information on the source e.g. publisher, edition, volume, and page, it is nigh impossible to verify the quotations.

Corruption of Negromancy as origin[edit]

This source (https://www.gutenberg.org/files/4315/4315-h/4315-h.htm#linknote-473) claims egromancy as a corruption of negromancy ("black divination?"/black magic). Possibly relevant.
