I remember reading in a paper dictionary once that the "Eurotas" part of the name means vagina in Classical Greek. It was actually glossed as pudenda muliebria, so that even the definition needed a translation to be understood. I dont know *why* the name of this river became a synonym for vagina, or whether the people with Eurotas as their last name are embarrassed about it even today, but I do think I remember the word being in lowercase (otoh, early Greek didnt even have lowercase).
