Typo? Dubious etymology
[edit]Orthographic rules usually require that only one accent is allowed per word to show syllable stress. Therefore it should probably be falanpám without the circumflex. But this is the only source where I've seen the word, so I write it as it is.
Etymology is also dubious; we don't know of any Cantonese corruption of frying pan from which this can borrow (only 煎pan (zin1 pen1)), and if not Cantonese I can't really explain the R => L shift considering even older Portuguese R is retained in Macanese.
