  • I made extensive edits to this page ... due to my inexperience as an editor I inadvertently did so in multiple edits. The previous definition was limited to the expression only in the third sense in my new definition, and that sense is actually only weakly supported by a web search. For example, the term also implies an absence of adult topics which may not be obscene in any way but would still be considered inappropriate for children. I believe I fixed this problem in the third definition by stating as the major criteria that the material is not inappropriate for children and only cite as examples of inappropriateness sexual content, profanity, and drugs. The first two senses I added are very well attested, I provided one citation but one could easily add dozens. Citations, especially for the first two definitions, are found throughout the English-speaking world so the previous definitions context of US, western is not justified. I retained the US context for the third definition, though, again, evidence is somewhat weak. I could find no usage in that sense outside the US and my own sense is that the term used in that sense is specific to the religious environment and political movements specific to the US.
