this word is not a real word — This unsigned comment was added by Dr.Hibbs (talkcontribs) at 19:59, 25 November 2006.

Citations for faze in the OED start in 1830; it was established by 1890; it is a very real word. Robert Ullmann 20:03, 25 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
The word phase is sometimes used incorrectly for faze, even the NY Times and Mark Twain have made this error. This sometimes leads to the supposition that faze is an un-educated spelling of phase. Robert Ullmann 20:10, 25 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

It is a real word, though an informal one, according to my dictionary. Sort of like the word ain't. 142.166.206.226 13:54, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
I've altered the wictionary entry, it is a real word but all the paper dictionaries I looked at say it is informal. 142.166.206.226 14:01, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
From Old English fésian (to frighten). First recorded use in 890 AD, but it was spelt feeze in the past. Dbfirs 10:14, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
