Romanization of kanji or hiragana[edit]

I made this edit: https://en.wiktionary.org/w/index.php?title=hitotsugai&type=revision&diff=49992345&oldid=47308030 (hiragana text → kanji text)

These type of pages should say

  • Rōmaji transcription of [kanji text]

and not

  • Rōmaji transcription of [hiragana text]

Right? --Spunionztastic (talk) 22:52, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Spunionztastic: Not really, to avoid content duplication with the hiragana pages. —Suzukaze-c 22:54, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Suzukaze-c: Sorry, I don't really know what you mean. What would be an example? --Spunionztastic (talk) 23:05, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Spunionztastic: Romaji pages link to kana pages, and kana pages link to kanji pages. —Suzukaze-c 23:07, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Suzukaze-c: You are saying that "Rōmaji transcription of [kanji text]" instead of "Rōmaji transcription of [kana text]" would cause content duplication with hiragana pages. What content would be duplicated? I have re-read what you wrote and the definitions of those words many times but still have not understood what you are talking about. Hell's bells, I am not an expert in Japanese, so I guess I'll just read stuff and think about it until I get it. --Spunionztastic (talk) 23:45, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
IF romaji pages linked to kanji, THEN they would have the same content as kana pages, WHICH ALSO link to kanji. —Suzukaze-c 23:49, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Linking to kanji from romaji would be user-friendly, but we don't have the infrastructure for maintaning BOTH romaji and kana pages. Our kana pages already tend to become out-of-date in comparison to the "full" kanji entries. —Suzukaze-c 23:50, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
