Etymology[edit]

Is this etymology correct?

In Quechua the word huayñuni literally translates to a dance of twos, or dancing in pairs and the word huayño means dance. 98.123.38.211 23:22, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

It's correct, but incomplete. I'm sure English got it from Spanish- but where did Spanish get it from? The Diccionario de americanismos links to huaino, where it says "Del quech. waynu". I don't know enough about Quechua spelling to add the etymology correctly, but it certainly seems to more or less match your understanding. Chuck Entz (talk) 23:38, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
