get into bed

[edit]

What about get in(to) bed (as opposed to get in(to) THE car)? --Backinstadiums (talk) 11:40, 19 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

If you mean the lack of an article, it's covered in the usage notes at bed. "get into the bed" is still correct but little used, and might imply an unusual situation, such as if the listener were sitting straight up and alert but with their lower body partly under the covers. I was still lying helpless in bed when the news was brought to me

[edit]

Does the current definition cover the use seen in I was still lying helpless in bed when the news was brought to me? --Backinstadiums (talk) 14:55, 8 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Makes sense to me. Soap 02:16, 9 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
