Talk:mahogany
I am reading a book, which uses mahogany as a color. "Beads of sweat poured down the busy God's mahogany cheeks to land on his wide, bare shoulders. This feels like a color, ala emerald, turquoise, cherry, etc. Speednat (talk) 06:47, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

Eucalyptus
[edit]Some Australian eucalyptus trees are named mahogany, such as eucalyptus robusta (swamp mahogany) and eucalyptus brockwayi (Dundas mahogany). I think this is because in the 19th century colonists often used mahogany for any tree that resembled mahogany, for example in the linked historical article it says "the railway would traverse a mahogany forest" despite there being no Swietenia forests in Australia. https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/2977848 Karlww (talk) 01:45, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
