Literate Muslim African vs. any Muslim African

[edit]

@Metaknowledge, you are correct. From what I can find, the word refers to any African Muslim in colonial Brazil. It appears as if their literacy is merely a stereotype of the class (actually the stereotype is a bit broader: that they were overall more cultured than the non-Muslim Africans). — Ungoliant (falai) 14:02, 13 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Ungoliant MMDCCLXIV: Thanks. Would you mind fixing the pt.wiki article to match? Also, should we have a Category:Baiano Portuguese? —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 17:53, 13 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
I think I’ll pass on changing the Portuguese Wikipedia page. They are some very prescriptive folk and I don’t want to have my toes stepped back on.
We could have a category for terms used in Bahia. Bahian Portuguese might be a better name. Bahian is a relatively well established term in English, isn’t it? — Ungoliant (falai) 02:56, 14 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Ungoliant MMDCCLXIV: Added accordingly. If you get a chance, you could try populating it with more Bahian terms. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 07:08, 14 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
