I don't know who started the idea, but contemporary contra dance callers often use the term "Mescolanza" referring to a dance form in which two couples face another two couples in long lines up and down the hall. These 4 facing four formation dances are collectively referred to as "Mescolanza" , since more typical contra dances are made up of only one couple facing another in long lines. 68.142.60.21 16:35, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
