Discussion[edit]
There is a sense of moeity used to describe the Australian aboriginal concept of "skins". Within a tribe there is (or was formerly) two to several moeities which determined who could marry whom and so forth. "Skin" seems to be the non-technical term used by aboriginies. This term is probably used by antrhopologists to cover similar systems of other traditional peoples. Perhaps somebody could check. — Hippietrail 17:11, 29 July 2005 (UTC)
- See Wikipedia:Moiety. I don't know enough about anthropology to add a decent definition here, though. --Quuxplusone 23:34, 29 July 2005 (UTC)
The first definition seems archaic, in fact in modern usage only the definitions relating to chemistry or other scientific jargon seem appropriate. 64.212.128.3 12:38, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
