Egyptian game???

[edit]

I'm pretty sure the 5-letter Roman-alphabet word was presented, perhaps as much as 4 years before 1960, as a commercial name for a supposedly Egyptian strategy game involving alternating moves, each consisting of transferring one or more undifferentiated "stones" from one dish or pit to another. My recollection is that these pits were implemented as a row of depressions in a plastic tray, presumably simulating more traditional pits made in loose sand or dirt. (I note evidence of an Arabic word, that seems to share this romanization of the Japanese term.) FWIW.
