Talk:parking lot

This had been hard redirected to car park. This is just wrong.
- car park isn't the primary entry here any more than parking lot would be.
- A car park can be a parking garage or other parking structure. A parking lot is an open lot (I won't swear a garage never gets called a parking lot, but if so, it's nowhere near as common as the analogous case with car park.
- parking lot carries the idiomatic sense about stop and go traffic. I've no idea whether car park is used that way or not.
In short, it's not a given that the two terms carry the same senses, and in fact they don't. -dmh 05:00, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
