πέτρα is stone; NOT πέτρος. Please correct the etymological entry, thanks!

πέτρος (pétros) seems to be the Ancient Greek for stone. Unfortunately a lot of etymologies refer to Greek as a shorthand for Ancient Greek which leads to all Hell breaking loose. Mglovesfun (talk) 12:24, 8 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

petrichor

[edit]

From ancient Greek petra ("stone") and ιχώρ, ichor, 'blood of the Gods. (Source French Wiktionnaire "petrichor")Rsocho 13:10, 10 May 2011 (UTC) rsochoReply

If it was coined in 1964 as our entry said, it was based on/inspired by Ancient Greek, rather than from it. --Mglovesfun (talk) 13:44, 10 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
