Latin Declension[edit]

Given declension is this (consonant stem):
Template:la-decl-3rd Correct delcension could be this (mixed declension):
Template:la-decl-3rd-I Sources for gen. pl. -ium:

  • Aurelius Prudentius Clemens (Late Latin) has "et ipsos et coronam plebium" (cited in a dictionary as "corona plebium, Prud. perist. 10, 709." but the case is changed; TLL has it too).
  • Sanctus Bernardus (Late or Medieval Latin): "oportere te esse ‥ cleri ordinatorem, plebium pastorem"
  • In British ML: "'Angul Saxorum basileus ceterarumque plebium hinc inde habitantium' CS 962" (DMLBS).

Sources for gen. pl. -um:

  • In British ML: "'principum diversarum provinciarum concursus cum numerosa clericorum ac plebum [J. Worc. 14: plebium] multitudine' Eadmer HN 305" (DMLBS) -- with -um this can be found
  • In British ML, somewhat: "'oportere te esse ‥ cleri ordinatorem, plebum pastorem' Ad. Marsh Ep. 1 p. 78." (DMLBS) -- Adam Marsh or Adam de Marisco should cite Sanctus Bernardus. While Adam should indeed have -um, the original text should have -ium both in the text or editions thereof and in cites by others.

If -um is only found in ML and NL, then there should be a note. -80.133.100.65 21:57, 14 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
