I'd like to see a usage that is clearly of the adjective and not attributive use of the noun. Merriam Webster Online shows its first use in 1646 or so. How was it used then? Is there any surviving use like that. I wonder it it is obsolete in that sense. DCDuring TALK 22:58, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
