The implication of "read my lips"[edit]

This statement implies that the speaker is answering a question that has been asked and answered before. As a possible explanation for the present questioner repeating the question, he may be deaf. So the present questioner is advised to read lips to get the answer this time. Fartherred 23:04, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Saying: "Read my lips." is like saying: "You must be deaf to have not heard my previous answer to this question (or previous response to this suggestion). Perhaps if you read my lips you will understand me." Fartherred 23:45, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
