What is the difference between remediate (which I have never come across before) and remedy, or even just fix?--145.221.24.6 16:32, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

One syllable. In my opinion, remedy implies "cure"; remediate does not. Some folks don't like nouns being used as verbs (remedy) and prefer words that seem more verb-like in their form (remediate). "Remedy" has been used as a verb for so long that few mind any more. "Fix" has a bit of the idea of a makeshift repair. Is the object of all this more like a disease to be remedied or something broken that can be fixed? DCDuring TALK 16:49, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
