Two senses

[edit]

I find having a single sense subsuming 1) mask that filters air to be breathed in and 2) device or machine ensuring artificial ventilation suboptimal.

Dictionaries having two separate senses: M-W[1], AHD[2], Macmillan[3], Collins[4]; Lexico[5] has the machine for artificial ventilation as a subsense, which I don't like. Macmillan has great definitions for common people, which I like very much.

Perhaps someone wants to have a go at reworking the entry.
