I often hear people use this word in a way that is not supported by the definition, as it is listed here. I assume this is slange-use or just inaccurate use, but perhaps someone else could comment on the following:

"What do you do for fun around here? What is the rhetoric?"

Is this inaccurate use, slang, or simple humor? Is this acceptable use of this word?
