[edit]We were using wiktionary to check words for quiddler (a word game similar to scrabble) and this was challenged. We like wiktionary because it tends to be less stodgy and formal, but this doesn't sound like a real thing. My partner was very reluctant to grant it, as I think I would be. Is there any reliable source for this word? Google looks like mostly half-literate gibberish.
- From To a Mouse by Robert Burns:
- I wad be laith to rin an’ chase thee, (= I would be loath to run and chase you,)
- Wi’ murd’ring pattle! (= With my murdering spade!)
- I wad be laith to rin an’ chase thee, (= I would be loath to run and chase you,)
- See the accompanying citation or do a search for "Robert Burns" and "To a Mouse". —Stephen (Talk) 08:56, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
- After the murder of MP w:Jo Cox, the BBC had a local guy, Sam Watson, from Yorkshire describin' what happen'd (June 16, 2016). It sounds to me as though he says, "an' he was like casually walkin' away, an' like he wa'n't rinnin', he was walkin'". Eric Kvaalen (talk) 12:27, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
