Talk:sánta

According to a dictionary on the etymology of Hungarian words, the adjective 'sánta' is from a verb 'sántál', which in turn is borrowed from a Slavic language before the 11th century as it still preserved the Slavic nasal (compare: Czech 'šatati' (traipse), Slovakian 'šatovat' (hurry)). The meaning of limping is a Hungarian development, which is confirmed by the fact that some Slavic languages re-borrowed the word with this meaning: Slovenian, Serbo-Croatian: šantati - to limp. That is, the latter is a borrowing from Hungarian, not the other way around.
