cannot access 1978 paper
[edit]so i can only speculate as to what the tlapal really means ... we have a few roots in Nahuatl, such as tlapalli, and there is a Spanish word tlapalería that is a loan from that same word .... that is the most likely source, but without readinfg the paper I cant know. the missing -a- seems to be deliberate, as i doubt that a mistake would propagate so widely in academic literature unnoticed. —Soap— 07:14, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
Interestingly enough, this may be the Higgs boson. That may deserve a note, as people browsing by may wonder why there is even such a thing as a rare physics term. I think more precisely the Higgs boson is just one type of particle that qualifies as a tlaplon, and even if it is the only such particle, the two terms are not quite synonyms. I might try to get help from outside on understanding this. But mostly Im interested in the etymology. —Soap— 07:20, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
