rogue shift of /d/ > /t/[edit]

We have this tracing back to PIE *úderos. Might the unexpected /t/ in Latin be explained by a pre-Latin syncopating form in which the cluster /dr/ shifted to /tr/, and then the rest of the paradigm shifted by analogy?
