What's the Example box doing? Are we suggesting that our definition is so poor that we can use it as an example of a weasel word?! Equinox 22:26, 11 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

I was playing. The real issue may be that "weasel word" is a pejorative for "hedge", which word I didn't think of when working on the entry. I suppose I was trying to elicit a reaction from a passer-by instead of taking it to TR. What do you think? — This comment was unsigned. [DCDuring]
Well, I don't think I'd ever seen the Example box before (which is interesting, since I've been editing for about six months by now!). I think we should definitely avoid being self-referential, even if it's witty. Could we either put something a bit saner in the Example box (like a full example sentence, or whatever this box is supposed to contain) or include it in the definition: "an ABC, such as XYZ"? Can't think of an actual example; no doubt Wikipedia has a ten-page manual about weasel words, though, so that might be a good source. Equinox 00:57, 12 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
