disagree with definition as an exclamation of approval:

rather as an exclamation of disapproval for naivety - an admonishment - listen to local gossip; as in "smarten up!". —⁠This unsigned comment was added by 142.161.254.73 (talk) at 11:11, 7 February 2006.

I have never heard used "Word Up!" used in the ways that you say. It has generally always been used to show approval or as a form of greeting. I actually use the phrase myself. The current definition is fine.

Request for cleanup

These definitions are probably all pretty good, but formatting is weird. Dunno why someone put all those "unnecessary" "speech marks". It's something I can't stand. --P5Nd2 (talk) 08:08, 15 October 2017 (UTC)
