Talk:wordmittung

The definition "(grammar) the comparative" and the usage note "In grammar, the comparative is often denoted by ōþere wordmittung." (other or second wordmittung) do contradict each other. The definition and the usage notes imply that "wordmittung" was used in a broader sense meaning "degree" and in a stricter sense meaning "comparative degree". But this isn't stated here. Also compared with Latin, where "collatio" just means "degree" and "collatio secunda" means "comparative", it might be that "wordmittung" just means "degree".
Bosworth gives the definition "a meeting of words, composition". So maybe "wordmittung" (also) means "composition" in the grammatical sense? -80.133.103.231 14:34, 16 February 2016 (UTC)
