Etymology
From Latin Taurasia, Taurasos, probably from taurus (“bull”) or Oscan 𐌕𐌀𐌖𐌓𐌏- (tauro-, “bull”). However, a Mediterranean substrate *tauro- (“mountain”) has also been suggested[1]; compare with the name of the Taurini tribe.
