Usage

This template may be used in Wiktionary entries to format quotations from a collection of Percy Bysshe Shelley's works entitled The Works of Percy Bysshe Shelley (new edition, 1850) edited by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley. It can be used to create a link to an online version of the work at the Internet Archive:

• Poetical Works (contents).
• Essays, Letters from Abroad, Translations and Fragments (contents).

Where a specific quotation template exists (for example, {{RQ:Shelley Prometheus Unbound}}), use it instead of this template.

Parameters

The template takes the following parameters:

• |part= – if quoting from the "Essays, Letters from Abroad, Translations and Fragments", specify |part=Essays. If this parameter is omitted, the template defaults to the "Poetical Works".
• |1=, |chapter=, or |poem= – mandatory: the name of the chapter or poem quoted from. If quoting from one of the titles indicated in the second column of the following table, give the parameter the value indicated in the first column:

• |stanza= – the stanza number quoted from in Arabic numerals.
• |date=, or (|month= and) |year= – if the date of the title quoted from (for example, a journal entry or a letter) is known, use |date= to specify it in the format 22 March 1818 or March 22, 1818. If only the month and year, or year alone, of the title is known, use |month= and/or |year= to specify this information.
• |column= or |columns= – the column number(s) quoted from, either |column=1 or |column=2. If quoting from both columns, either omit this parameter or separate the column numbers with an en dash, like this: |columns=1–2.
• |2= or |page=, or |pages= – mandatory in some cases: the page number(s) quoted from in Arabic or lowercase Roman numerals, as the case may be. If quoting a range of pages, note the following:
  • Separate the first and last page number of the range with an en dash, like this: |pages=10–11 or |pages=iii–iv.
  • You must also use |pageref= to indicate the page to be linked to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).

This parameter must be specified to have the template link to the online version of the work.

The pagination starts from 1 in each part of the work, "Poetical Works" and "Essays, Letters from Abroad, Translations and Fragments".

• |3=, |text=, or |passage= – the passage to be quoted.
• |footer= – a comment on the passage quoted.
• |brackets= – use |brackets=on to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.
